Biography

Blessed Joan Pastor Marco, also known as Fabià, was born on January 14, 1876, in Barcelona, Spain. He was a monk and a devoted member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools, a religious congregation founded by St. Marcellin Champagnat.

Throughout his life, Blessed Joan Pastor Marco exemplified deep faith and a strong commitment to his vocation. He embraced the essential values of the Marist Brothers such as education, simplicity, humility, and love for Mary, the mother of Jesus.

During the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, which lasted from 1936 to 1939, Spain was deeply divided along political lines. The conflict carried a profound impact on the Catholic Church, leading to the persecution of clergy, religious orders, and faithful laypeople.
