Blessed Julián Pozo Ruiz de Samaniego, a Redemptorist priest, is remembered as a martyr of the Spanish Civil War. He was born on January 7, 1903, in Payueta, Alava, Spain. His commitment to the Catholic faith and his calling to serve the Church led him to join the Redemptorist congregation.

Julián Pozo Ruiz De Samaniego received his religious education and formation in the Redemptorist seminary. After completing his studies, he was ordained as a priest and began his pastoral work in the diocese of Cuenca, Spain. There, he dedicated himself to spreading the Gospel, caring for the spiritual needs of his parishioners, and assisting the poor and marginalized.
