Blessed Luis Iglesias Bañuelos, also known as Abdón, was a notable Catholic figure and a member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools. He was born on 19 August 1895 in Los Valcárceres, Burgos, Spain, and spent his life dedicated to serving God.
Luis Iglesias Bañuelos joined the Marist Brothers of the Schools, a religious order founded in France with a mission to educate young people, particularly the most disadvantaged. As a Marist Brother, he committed himself to the education and spiritual guidance of children, emphasizing the importance of learning and character formation.
During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Brother Luis Iglesias Bañuelos bravely remained steadfast in his faith and dedication to his vocation. His unwavering commitment to his religious duties led to his martyrdom, as he was tragically killed on 23 August 1936 in Toledo, Spain, for his refusal to
renounce his beliefs.
