Biography

Blessed Marcos Morón Casas, also known as Brother Indalecio de María, was a devoted member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He was born on 25 April 1899 in the town of Noguera, Teruel, Spain, and dedicated his life to serving God and others through his vocation as a religious brother.

Throughout his life, Brother Indalecio demonstrated great love and compassion for those around him, particularly the young students under his care. He was deeply committed to the mission of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, which focused on providing education to the disadvantaged and guiding young people to live a life rooted in Christian values.

Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, Brother Indalecio, along with many others who shared his faith, faced great persecution for their religious beliefs. Despite the dangers and threats that surrounded him, he steadfastly refused to renounce his faith or abandon his commitment to his religious community.

On 24 July 1936, Brother Indalecio was martyred for his unwavering faith in Barcelona, Spain. He was among the countless individuals who courageously gave their lives rather than compromise their religious convictions during this tumultuous period in Spanish history.

Recognizing the heroic virtue of Brother Indalecio, Pope John Paul II declared him venerable on 22 June 2004, formally acknowledging his martyrdom. This declaration was followed by his beatification on 28 October 2007, presided over by Pope Benedict XVI.

Blessed Marcos Morón Casas remains an inspiration to all as a witness of faith and devotion. His life serves as a timeless reminder of the importance of remaining faithful to one's beliefs, even in the face of grave danger and persecution. As a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, he continues to be revered as a model of selfless service and dedication to the cause of education and Christian values.
