Biography

Blessed Margarita Josefa Noguera Manubens, also known as Sister Auxili, was a member of the Capuchin Sisters of the Mother of the Divine Shepherd. She was born on 3 July 1870 in Manresa, Barcelona, Spain. Margarita dedicated her life to religious service and joined the Capuchin Sisters, a religious congregation focused on the care of the sick and the education of girls.

Throughout her religious life, Margarita showed unwavering devotion and commitment to her faith. She possessed a remarkable sense of compassion and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. As a member of the Capuchin Sisters, she worked tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of the sick and provide assistance to those in need.

Tragically, in the midst of the tumultuous Spanish Civil War, Margarita's dedication to her faith and her compassionate nature led to her martyrdom. On 1 August 1936, she was martyred in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain. Margarita faced persecution as a result of her religious vocation and her commitment to serving others. Despite the dangers, she remained steadfast in her faith until the end, offering a powerful example of courage and devotion.

Blessed Margarita Josefa Noguera Manubens was officially venerated on 18 December 2017 by Pope Francis, who declared her a martyr for the cause of faith. Her beatification took place on 10 November 2018, presided over by Pope Francis himself. This special recognition by the Catholic Church is a testament to Margarita's exceptional holiness and her sacrifice in the face of adversity.
