Blessed Mechthild of Sponheim, also known as Mathildis, Matilda, Mechtildis, Mechtilde, or Mathilde, was an anchoress who resided in the German cities of Mainz and Sponheim. Born in the area of modern Germany, her exact birthdate is unknown. However, her life is believed to have spanned from the 11th to the 12th century.
