Biography

Blessed Modestemarie Burgen, also known as Bougue, was a Trappist monk at the Abbey of Settefonti in Ozzano dell'Emilia, Italy. Born in Bourgogne, Marne, France, his early life and upbringing remain largely unknown. However, it was during the tumultuous era of the French Revolution that Blessed Modestemarie's name became associated with valor and sacrifice.
