Biography

Blessed Mykola Konrad, also known as Nicholas Konrad, was a notable figure in the Greek Catholic Church. Born on May 16, 1876, in Strusiv, Ternopil District, Ukraine, he dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and faithfully served his community until his martyrdom.

Blessed Mykola Konrad studied philosophy and theology in the renowned city of Rome, Italy. After completing his studies, he was ordained as a priest in 1899. Throughout his career, he showed a strong commitment to education and the spiritual formation of young minds.

He began his teaching career in high schools located in Berezhony and Tereboblya. His passion for education extended beyond the classroom, as he also became a respected faculty member at the Theological Academy in 1930. Later in his career, he served as a parish priest in Stradch. His courageous testimony in defense of his faith and the Ukrainian people made him a martyr, and he became recognized as such on April 24, 2001, through a decree of martyrdom issued by Pope John Paul II.
