Biography

Blessed Pedro Esteban Hernandez, born on July 27, 1869, in Híjar, Teruel, Spain, was a Mercedarian brother who dedicated his life to serving God and his fellow brothers and sisters. Little is known about his early life and family background, but he entered the Mercedarian Order and lived a life of simplicity, prayer, and service.

During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Pedro Esteban Hernandez remained faithfully committed to his religious vocation even amidst great danger and persecution. He was known for his courage, compassion, and unwavering faith, which inspired those around him. Despite the turbulent political climate, he continued to minister to his community, providing comfort, spiritual guidance, and assistance to those in need.

In the face of religious persecution, Blessed Pedro Esteban Hernandez was ultimately martyred for his faith in September 1936. He was brutally killed at the age of 67 at a location known as "Mas de los Sidricos" in Híjar, Teruel, Spain. His martyrdom serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to God and his Church.
