Biography
Blessed Peter of Saint James, also known as Peter Armengol or Armengaud, was a Mercedarian friar who is celebrated for his selfless acts of ransom and the redemption of Christian slaves held captive in Algiers by Muslims during the 13th century. He was born in Navarre, Spain, and dedicated his life to the service of God and the liberation of the oppressed.
