Biography

Blessed Pierre Camino, also known as Blessed Peter de La Camin, was a Mercedarian friar and a renowned Catholic martyr. Born in France, his life was dedicated to the service of Christ and his fellow Christians.

In the pursuit of his mission to ransom Christians enslaved by Muslims, Blessed Pierre embarked on a fateful journey to north Africa. During this voyage, his ship was seized by Muslims, and he was subsequently taken to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. It was in Tunis that he endured unimaginable suffering and met his martyrdom.

Upon his arrival in Tunis, Blessed Pierre Camino was subjected to a gruesome form of torture. He was buried up to his waist in the ground, an act intended to degrade and humiliate him. In addition to this, his captors utilized him as a target for archery practice, using his defenseless body as their mark. Despite enduring this horrific treatment, Blessed Pierre remained steadfast in his faith and devotion to God.

Truly exemplifying his commitment to the Christian cause, Blessed Pierre Camino's courage knew no bounds. His captors, unable to break his spirit, resorted to even more violent acts. They subjected him to further mutilation, blinding him, and eventually taking his life through brutal murder.
