Blessed Raymond de Fosso, also known as Raymond Fosso, was a Mercedarian friar and an inspiring figure in the history of Christian redemption. He dedicated his life to the noble cause of redeeming Christians who had been enslaved by Muslims in North Africa, particularly in Algeria and Mauritania.

Born in an unknown date and place, Raymond Fosso joined the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, commonly known as the Mercedarians, a Catholic religious order founded with a mission to redeem Christian captives. Within the order, Raymond became renowned for his unwavering commitment to freeing those who had fallen victim to the cruelty of enslavement.
