Blessed Ricardo Gil Barcelón was born one of ten children to Francesco and Francesca Gil Barcelón. His early life bore witness to his steadfast faith when, as a young man enrolled at Teruel Normal School to become a teacher, he was expelled by the Freemason director for refusing to abandon his Catholic convictions.
