Biography
Blessed Robert of Arbrissel, born of a village priest in France, dedicated his life to reform and spiritual renewal. Ordained a priest, he served as archpriest at Rennes, renowned both for his zealous ecclesiastical reforms and his gift for mediating conflicts. He later taught at Angers before retreating as a hermit into the forest of Craon. There, he founded a community of canons, including Blessed Reinaldo of Melinais, and composed a Rule for their life. His powerful preaching drew widespread attention; Pope Urban II, impressed by his oratory in 1095, commissioned him to preach throughout the region.
