Blessed Roque Guillén Garcés: Feast Day October 23

Biography

Blessed Roque Guillén Garcés, born on May 21, 1879, in Sarrión, Teruel, Spain, was a Catholic priest and member of the Vincentian Congregation of the Mission. He dedicated his life to serving God and the people, following the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul.

Roque Guillén Garcés became known for his compassion and devotion to the poor and marginalized. As a Vincentian priest, he actively engaged in charitable works, providing support and assistance to those in need. His deep faith and commitment to social justice led him to embrace a life of selfless service.

Tragically, during the Spanish Civil War, which unfolded from 1936 to 1939, Roque Guillén Garcés was martyred for his unwavering faith and dedication to his vocation. On October 23, 1936, he was killed in Vallecas, Madrid, Spain, as a result of the religious persecution experienced during that turbulent period.
