Biography

Blessed Severiano Montes Fernández, an Augustinian priest, was born on 14 March 1887 in the town of San Julián de Bimenes, in the region of Asturias, Spain. Little is known about his early life, but it is clear that he was deeply committed to his faith from an early age.

Severiano followed his calling to serve God and joined the Order of St. Augustine, where he underwent training and formation to become a priest. His dedication and zeal for the Gospel earned him the respect and admiration of his superiors and fellow seminarians.

Ordained as a priest, Father Severiano spent considerable time ministering to the spiritual needs of the faithful in his local community, sharing the message of Christ's love and salvation. Known for his compassion and humility, he was deeply loved by those who knew him.

Tragically, during the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Father Severiano Montes Fernández fell victim to the escalating violence that gripped the country. On 15 August 1936, in Oviedo, Asturias, he was martyred for his refusal to renounce his Catholic faith.
