Blessed Wittikund of Westphalia, also known as Wittikund of Saxony, Widukind of Saxony, or Wittekind of Saxony, was a significant figure in the early medieval period. He was born in Saxony, Germany, and raised as a pagan. Wittikund held the title of Duke of Westphalia, a region in modern-day Germany.

The course of Wittikund's life changed dramatically when, on Christmas night, while Christian soldiers were receiving Holy Communion, he had a profound vision of the Christ Child. This divine encounter deeply affected him, leading him to question his pagan beliefs and seek the truth in Christianity. Charlemagne, the Frankish king, played a vital role in Wittikund's conversion. Charlemagne sponsored the Duke of Westphalia, facilitating his entrance into the Church. Wittikund was officially baptized in 785, symbolizing his commitment to his newfound faith.
