Biografía

Blessed √âlisabeththérèse De Consolin, also known as √âlisabeth-Thérèse de l'Enfant-Jésus, was a French Ursuline nun who became a martyr during the French Revolution. She was born on 9 June 1736 in Courthezon, a town located in Vaucluse, France. √âlisabeththérèse dedicated her life to serving God, and at a young age, she joined the Ursuline Order.

During the societal upheaval caused by the French Revolution, the Ursuline convents were targeted and eventually closed down. Many nuns, including √âlisabeththérèse, refused to renounce their religious vows. Consequently, she became a victim of the violence pervasive during that time.

On 26 July 1794, √âlisabeththérèse De Consolin was guillotined in the town of Orange, also situated in Vaucluse, France. Her courageous and unwavering commitment to her faith led to her ultimate sacrifice. She was one of the many Martyrs of Orange, recognized for their valiant stand against the forces opposing Catholicism during the French Revolution.

On 19 March 1925, Pope Pius XI officially venerated √âlisabeththérèse, declaring her a martyr through a decree. Her beatification followed shortly after on 10 May 1925, with Pope Pius XI elevating her to the rank of Blessed.

While specific details about her representation are not provided in the given information, it is worth considering that she may be depicted wearing the habit of the Ursuline Order. Additionally, as an Ursuline nun who held strongly to her faith in difficult times, she may be represented with symbols associated with martyrdom and religious devotion, such as a palm branch or a crucifix.

Blessed √âlisabeththérèse De Consolin serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by individuals who persevere in their religious beliefs in the face of persecution. Her life and martyrdom stand as an inspiration to all those who seek to remain faithful to their faith, no matter the circumstances.
