Beato Modestino de Jesús y María, también conocido como Domingo Mazzarella o Modestino de Jesús y María, nació el 5 de septiembre de 1802 en Frattamaggiore, Diócesis de Aversa, Nápoles, Italia. Fue criado en una familia pobre de clase obrera, con su padre dedicado a preparar cáñamo para hacer cuerdas y su madre trabajando como tejedora.
