Beato Pablo Caballero López

Blessed Pablo Caballero López, born on 16 February 1904 in Málaga, Spain, was a devout Catholic priest who served in the Salesians of Don Bosco order. He dedicated his life to the service of God and the education of young people, following in the footsteps of his founder, St. John Bosco.

During the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Pablo fearlessly stood up for his faith and lived out his vocation despite the dangerous circumstances. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his priestly duties, providing spiritual guidance and support to those in need.

On 28 July 1936, at the age of 32, Blessed Pablo Caballero López tragically became a martyr for the Catholic faith. He was martyred in Ronda, Málaga, Spain, where he faced persecution and violence for his refusal to renounce his religious beliefs.

Blessed Pablo Caballero López's martyrdom was recognized by the Catholic Church, and he was venerated on 26 June 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. The Pope issued a decree of martyrdom, acknowledging the supreme sacrifice Blessed Pablo made for his faith. Subsequently, on 28 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI beatified him, officially recognizing him as Blessed Pablo Caballero López.

The life and martyrdom of Blessed Pablo Caballero López serve as a powerful example of selfless dedication to God and the Church, even in the face of persecution and violence.
