Biography

Theodgar of Vestervig, also known as Dieter von Vestervig (German) or Thøger (Danish), was a missionary from Thuringia who dedicated his life to spreading Christianity in Jutland, Denmark. He studied theology in England and later served King Olav II Haraldsson's court in Norway after the king's death. Theodgar then moved to Jutland where he continued his mission until his death on 24 June, either in or around 1065. His remains were transferred to the church of the Augustinian Vestervig Abbey on 30 October 1117. Venerated as a saint, Theodgar's feast day is celebrated on 24 June.
