Saint Aaron

Aaron of Aleth, also known as Saint Aihran or Eran in Breton, was a hermit, monk, and abbot who lived from approximately the late 5th to early 6th century. He resided on Cézembre, a small island near Aleth, opposite Saint-Malo in Brittany, France. Some sources suggest he may have come from Celtic Britain. Aaron attracted many visitors, including Malo, who visited him in 544 and later succeeded him as the abbot of the monastery. After Aaron's death, around 552 or shortly thereafter, Malo went on to become the first Bishop of Aleth. The town of Saint-Aaron in Lamballe, France, is named after him.

Aaron's feast day is celebrated on June 21 at Saint-Malo and elsewhere on June 22. He is mentioned in Les Vies des Saints de Bretagne, a collection of Breton saints' lives.
