Biografía

Esta biografía está disponible actualmente solo en inglés.

Saint Nicomede, whose feast is observed on September 15, was a martyr of unknown era and origin. The Roman Martyrology and historical records from Bede and his imitators place his feast day on this date. He was buried in a catacomb near the gate of Via Nomentana in Rome. Three seventh-century Itineraries specifically mention his grave, and Pope Adrian I restored the church built over it. A titular church dedicated to Saint Nicomede existed by the fifth century, and its dedication on June 1 was included in the Sarum Rite calendars but not in the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.

Saint Nicomede's burial site and the subsequent restoration efforts highlight his significance within the early Roman Church. His feast day is celebrated to honor his martyrdom and the contributions he made to Christian worship and community life.
