Biography

Aldetrude (c. 526 - c. 696) was a Christian saint and abbess of Maubeuge Abbey, located in northern France, from 684 until her death. She was one of four children born to Saint Waltrude and Saint Vincent Madelgarius; her siblings included Saint Landericus (a Bishop of Metz), Saint Dentelin, and Saint Madelberta (also abbess of Maubeuge). Her aunt Aldegonde served as the first abbess before Aldetrude took over....
