Biography
In the bustling forums of Nicomedia, amidst the administrative center of an empire on the brink of spiritual turmoil, a single act of defiance would echo through the centuries. This was the setting for the witness of Saint Evetius. The year was c. 303, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, a time when the Roman state demanded absolute allegiance that conflicted with the conscience of the faithful. Nicomedia, serving as a primary capital for the emperor, was a place where the tension between imperial power and Christian conviction was palpable.
