Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort

Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort, born on January 31, 1673, and died on April 28, 1716, was a French Catholic priest who significantly influenced Catholic Mariology. He authored several notable works, including 'Secret of the Rosary' and 'True Devotion to Mary,' which remain classic titles in Catholic literature. His writings had an impact on several popes. De Montfort also founded religious communities, notably the Company of Mary. After his death, he was canonized by Pope Pius XII on July 20, 1947. A founders statue created by Giacomo Parisini stands in St. Peter's Basilica as a testament to his contributions.
