Saint Piat

Piatus of Tournai, also known as Piaton, Platon, Piat, or Piato (died c. 286), was a Belgian saint who hailed from Benevento, Italy. Tradition holds that he was sent by the pope to evangelize Chartres and Tournai in France. He is traditionally said to have been ordained by Dionysios the Areopagite, a figure known for his role in early Christian history. Piatus met his martyrdom under Emperor Maximian, who had him sliced at the top of the skull. His relics were later discovered by Saint Eligius and placed in a reliquary. He is often depicted holding the sliced portion of his skull. Some of his relics can be found at Chartres Cathedral.
