Saint Saturninus of Carthage

Saturninus of Carthage was a North African Christian martyr who lived during the Decian persecution (249-251 AD). According to Pope Damasus I, Saturninus was exiled to Rome after being tortured for his faith on a rack in his homeland. In Rome, he endured further tortures and is said to have converted Emperor Gratian to Christianity before being beheaded. He was buried in the Catacomb of Trasone on the via Salaria, and later his body was moved to San Saturnino church in Rome. The Roman Martyrology records his feast day as November 29.

Saturninus is venerated for his steadfastness in suffering for Christ and his role in converting a ruler to Christianity. His relics are kept at the San Saturnino church, where he is commemorated by the faithful.
