Saint Accidia

While it is known that Saint Accidia was martyred in Africa, no further details about their life or the circumstances surrounding their martyrdom have been preserved. As a result, there is little to provide in terms of a comprehensive biography for Saint Accidia. The term "Accidia" also refers to a spiritual state of sloth or apathy in Catholic theology, but it is not clear if there is any connection between this concept and the saint named Accidia. It is worth noting that their feast day is celebrated on May 28th. Saint Accidia was canonized prior to the establishment of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, which means they were recognized and venerated as a saint before the current processes for canonization were implemented.
