Saint Alkeld The Martyr, also known as Athilda, was a devout Christian who suffered martyrdom at the hands of the invading Danes in the 10th century. She holds a significant place in Yorkshire, England, where two churches are dedicated to her memory. Very little is known about Saint Alkeld's early life.
