Saint Alphege The Bald, also known as Alphege of Winchester, Alphege the Elder, Ælfheah, Elphege, Elfego, and Elpigio, was a relative of Saint Dunstan of Canterbury and Saint Ethelwold. Born in the 10th century, Saint Alphege earned a reputation as a dedicated monk and became the Bishop of Winchester, England in 935. Saint Alphege is remembered as a great supporter of the monastic life, actively promoting and advocating for the importance of monasticism within the Church.
