Saint Dula The Slave, also known as Saint Dula of Nicomedia, was a Christian slave in Nicomedia, Asia Minor, during the early years of the Church. Living in a time when Christianity was still persecuted, Dula's life exemplified unyielding faith and courage in the face of oppression. Not much is known about Dula's early life or her family background. Born into servitude, she was owned by a pagan soldier in Nicomedia. Despite her circumstances, Dula maintained a steadfast commitment to her Christian beliefs. Her devotion to her faith was tested when her owner attempted to rape her. In an act of unwavering bravery, Dula fought off the assault and chose to protect her virtue and maintain her loyalty to God. It was during this struggle that she lost her life, martyred for defending her beliefs and her own dignity. Dula's steadfastness in the face of such adversity served as a profound testament to her deep faith and unwavering commitment to her Christian values. Following her death, Dula was venerated as a powerful example of fidelity to God and resistance against evil.
