Biography
Saint Bartholomea Capitanio, born on January 13, 1807, in Lovere, Bergamo, Italy, was the daughter of an alcoholic corn-factor. Despite the opposition of her family to her desire to become a nun, Bartholomea took a private vow of perpetual chastity. She dedicated her life to teaching and working with youth as a laywoman.
