Saint Charus of Malcesine, also known as Caro, was an Augustinian hermit who lived in the Malcesine area on the shore of Lake Garda near Verona, Italy around the 9th century. Although not much is known about his early life, he is revered for his piety, deep prayer life, wisdom, and as a sought-after spiritual director. Saint Charus lived during a time of great spiritual fervor in Italy. As an Augustinian hermit, he dedicated his life to a solitary existence, seeking God through prayer and contemplation. His commitment to a life of solitude allowed him to cultivate a deep and intimate relationship with God, and it was said that his prayers were often answered in miraculous ways. Throughout his life, Saint Charus was known to be a wise and gentle spiritual guide to those who sought his counsel.
