Saint Clotsindis of Marchiennes, also known as Clotsinde or Clotildis, was born around the year 635. She was the daughter of Saint Adalbald of Ostrevant and Saint Richrudis of Marchiennes, who were both revered saints in their own right. Coming from such esteemed lineage, Clotsindis grew up in a deeply religious household, immersed in the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith.
As she reached adulthood, Clotsindis felt a strong calling to dedicate her life entirely to God. In response to this divine calling, she entered the Benedictine Order as a nun at the convent of Marchiennes. She received her spiritual guidance and formation under the loving direction of her mother, who was the abbess of the community. This unique privilege of being under the tutelage of her saintly mother allowed Clotsindis to receive profound instruction and inspiration in her journey of faith.
In due course, Clotsindis demonstrated exceptional devotion, piety, and leadership qualities within the convent community.
