Biography

Saint Dingad, also known as Saint Dingatt, was a remarkable figure in the fifth century. Born as the son of Saint Brychan, a prominent chieftain in Brecknock, Dingad hailed from a noble lineage. Little is known about his early life, but it is believed that he was deeply influenced by his father's devout Christian faith. In his youth, Dingad felt a strong calling to a life of solitude and contemplation. He decided to become a hermit and sought out a suitable location for his hermitage. Eventually, he settled in the town of Llandovery, located in the historic county of Dyfed, Wales. Llandovery became synonymous with Dingad's name, and he would be forever associated with this place. As a hermit, Dingad dedicated himself to a life of prayer, fasting, and meditation.
