Biography

Saint Gohard of Nantes, also known as Saint Gohard of Cordemais, was a significant figure in the Catholic Church during the 9th century. Born in Nantes, France, Gohard dedicated his life to the teachings of Christianity and eventually became the Bishop of Nantes.

While serving as Bishop, Saint Gohard often emphasized the importance of spreading the Gospel and helping the less fortunate. He worked tirelessly to build and restore churches, schools, and other educational institutions in order to promote a greater understanding and practice of the Christian faith.

Tragically, during his tenure as Bishop, Saint Gohard and a number of priests and monks were martyred by Norwegian Viking invaders. They were attacked while celebrating the Holy Mass, a commemorative event for Christians which emphasizes the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
