Saint Harlindis of Arland

Saint Harlindis of Arland, also known as Harlindis of Belgium, was the daughter of Count Arland and the sister of another saint, Saint Belindis. Little is known about her early life, but she dedicated herself to a life of holiness and service to God.

Harlindis played a significant role in the establishment of an abbey in Belgium and served as its first abbess. She worked tirelessly to create a place of spiritual refuge for women, where they could devote themselves to prayer, contemplation, and the works of charity. Under Harlindis' leadership, the abbey became a center of religious life and a beacon of piety and learning.

Throughout her life, Harlindis corresponded with several prominent figures in the Christian faith, including Saint Boniface and Saint Willibrord of Echternach. Her letters to these saints demonstrated her intellectual depth and her commitment to the spread of the Gospel.

Saint Harlindis died in 745 of natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and service to God. She was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church, although the exact date and details of her canonization are unknown due to it being a pre-congregation process.

Although there are no known specific representations or patronages associated with Saint Harlindis, her life and example continue to inspire believers to live out their faith with devotion and love.
