Saint Jacques Fermin, also known as Father Jacques Fermin, was a renowned Jesuit priest and missionary who dedicated his life to spreading Christianity among the indigenous people in Canada during the 17th century. Born on 12th March 1628 in Rheims, France, he exhibited great piety and devotion from an early age. In 1646, Saint Jacques Fermin joined the Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits. The Jesuits were renowned for their missionary work and strong theological education, which greatly influenced Saint Jacques Fermin's spiritual journey. Equipped with a deep knowledge of Catholic teachings and a strong desire to share the love of God, he embarked on a mission to Canada. Upon his arrival in Canada, Saint Jacques Fermin dedicated himself to serving the indigenous populations, particularly the Onodaga, Cayuhoga, and Mohawk tribes.
