Biography

Saint Jonas, a devoted disciple of Saint Dionysius of Paris, dedicated his life to the Christian mission in early medieval Gaul. Born in the uncertain years of the early Christian era, his vocation led him to serve as a priest in the region surrounding Paris, France. With unwavering zeal, he preached the Gospel, guiding souls toward the faith amidst the cultural and religious landscape of the time. His steadfast witness to Christ, however, drew the ire of Roman authorities. Under the edict of the Roman prefect Julian, Jonas was martyred for his Christian faith, offering his life as a final testament to his commitment. His death occurred in the late fourth century, likely during the period of imperial persecution under Julian the Apostate (361-363 AD), though the precise date remains unknown.
