Biography
Saint José María Díaz Sanjurjo, O.P., was a Dominican priest whose life of dedicated service culminated in martyrdom for the faith. Ordained to the priesthood on 23 March 1844, he embraced the missionary vocation with fervor. His apostolic labors began in Manila, Philippines, before he journeyed to the mission fields of Vietnam. Demonstrating exceptional commitment, he was appointed Coadjutor Vicar Apostolic of Central Tonking and Titular Bishop of Plataea on 5 September 1848, a position he held while steadfastly shepherding the Church amidst significant challenges.
