Saint Proculus of Bologna, also known as Proculus of Bologna, was a revered figure in the history of Christianity. He served as the Bishop of Bologna, Italy from 540 until his death. Proculus lived during a tumultuous period, marked by the invasion of various tribes, including the Goths led by Goterne. His unwavering faith and commitment to his flock led to his martyrdom. Proculus's life before becoming a bishop is largely unknown, as historical records are scant. However, it is believed that he dedicated himself to the service of God from an early age. His devotion and piety paved the way for his eventual appointment as the Bishop of Bologna, a position he would hold for many years. During his tenure as bishop, Saint Proculus guided the faithful of Bologna with great wisdom and care.
