Saint Remigius of Strasbourg, also known as Remi or Remidius, was born into the nobility and was the son of Hugh of Alsace. He was a cousin of Saint Odilia of Hohenburg and grew up in a devout Christian family. Born in the 8th century, Remigius dedicated himself to the service of God from an early age. As a young man, Remigius embraced a life of asceticism and study, seeking to deepen his understanding of the Catholic faith. His devotion and wisdom soon caught the attention of the local clergy, and he was eventually ordained as a priest. Remigius served as an abbot of Münster, a monastery near Colmar, France, where he guided the monks in their spiritual journey and maintained a fervent dedication to prayer and contemplation.
In recognition of his exceptional leadership qualities and spirituality, Remigius was appointed as the Bishop of Strasbourg, France, in the year 776. As the bishop, he exercised his pastoral duties with great care and compassion, working tirelessly to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church and provide spiritual guidance to the people of his diocese.
