Biography

Saint Sigolena of Trocar, also known as Segoulème, was born to a noble family in Aquitaine, in modern-day France. She lived during the 8th century and little is known about her early life. Sigolena was married at some point, but unfortunately, her husband passed away, leaving her a widow. After her husband's death, Sigolena felt a deep calling to dedicate her life to serving God and leading a devout, pious existence. She made the decision to become a nun and entered the Troclar Convent, located in southern France. The exact date of her entrance into religious life is not documented, but it is believed to have occurred shortly after her husband's passing. Sigolena's true dedication, piety, and leadership abilities soon became apparent to the members of her community.
