Biography
Saint Sigrada, also known as Sigrade or Sigrate, was a notable figure in the early Christian history of France. She was born in the 7th century and little is known about her early life, including her exact birth date and place. However, her life was defined by her devotion to the Christian faith and her important role as a mother and nun. Sigrada was married and had two sons named Leodegarius and Warinus, both of whom would go on to become revered Saints in their own right. After the death of her husband, Sigrada felt called to a life of solitude and devotion to God. She embraced her widowhood and, following her sons' martyrdom, sought solace within the walls of the convent in Soissons, France.
As a nun at the convent, Sigrada dedicated her life to prayer, contemplation, and the service of God. She lived a humble life, finding strength and serenity in her faith. Sigrada became an
exemplary model of Christian virtue, always placing her trust in God's providence and seeking His will. Sigrada's enduring faith and unwavering commitment to the path of holiness distinguished her among her peers. She selflessly offered her prayers and support to others, becoming a source of inspiration and consolation for those who sought solace in their own troubles. Little is known about the representation or iconography associated with Saint Sigrada.
