Biography

Saint Theophilus of Corte, also known as Biagio Arrighi or Teofilo, was born in Corte, Corsica, France as Biagio Arrighi. He was a devout Catholic who joined the Franciscans in 1693, taking the name Theophilus, which means "friend of God." After his ordination in Naples, Italy, he dedicated his life to spreading the teachings of the Catholic faith. Saint Theophilus began his ministry by teaching at Civitella, Italy, where he inspired many with his knowledge and piety. Known for his zeal, he embarked on numerous evangelization missions throughout Corsica and Italy, sharing the Gospel with those he encountered. He firmly believed in the importance of reforms and renewal within the Franciscan order and worked tirelessly to inspire fellow friars to deepen their faith and commitment. Throughout his life, Saint Theophilus of Corte exhibited a deep sense of humility and selflessness.
