Biography

Saint Zacchaeus of Jerusalem, also known as Zacharius or Zaccheus, was the fourth bishop of Jerusalem. He is believed to have lived during the 2nd century AD. Despite limited information available about his life, his significant role in the early Church makes his story worthy of exploration. Not much is known about Saint Zacchaeus's early life or background. However, it is believed that he hailed from Jerusalem itself, which was considered a prominent center of early Christianity. He was ordained a bishop to succeed Bishop St. Narcissus, one of the revered early bishops of Jerusalem. During his episcopate, Saint Zacchaeus faced various challenges. He led the Christian community through a difficult period marked by persecution under Roman rule. His steadfastness and commitment to the faith were admired by his flock, particularly during these tumultuous times.
