Biography
Blessed Alejandro Arraya Caballero, also known as Brother Alejandro Antonio, was a devoted member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. He was born on May 29, 1908, in Monasterio de Rodilla, Burgos, Spain.
From an early age, Alejandro showed a profound sense of faith and a calling to serve God. His devotion led him to join the Brothers of the Christian Schools, an order dedicated to the education of young people. Through his vocation, Alejandro committed himself to the principles of faith, compassion, and education.
However, during a time of great turmoil in Spain, Alejandro's unwavering commitment to his faith would ultimately lead to his martyrdom. He was tragically killed during the Spanish Civil War on July 30, 1936, in Tarragona, Spain. His death was a result of his refusal to renounce his Catholic beliefs, even in the face of persecution and violence.
Alejandro Arraya Caballero's unwavering devotion to his faith and his ultimate sacrifice in the name of his Catholic beliefs did not go unnoticed. He was acclaimed for his martyrdom and venerated by the Catholic Church on June 28, 2012, through a decree of martyrdom by Pope Benedict XVI.
