Blessed Ignacio González Calzada, also known as Brother Rogaciano, was a professed religious in the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as the De La Salle Brothers. He was born on 31 July 1885 in Terrazos de Bureba, Burgos, Spain.
Ignacio González Calzada dedicated his life to the service of God and the education of young people. He joined the De La Salle Brothers, a Catholic religious congregation founded by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, which specialized in teaching and the formation of teachers. Ignacio fully embraced the charism of the order and lived a life of dedication, humility, and faith.
In 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, religious persecution was rampant, and Ignacio González Calzada became one of its victims. On 24 July 1936, in Madrid, Spain, Brother Rogaciano met his martyrdom, sacrificing his life for his faith.
His unwavering commitment to his religious vows and the principles of the De La Salle Brothers led to his ultimate sacrifice and martyrdom.
