Biography
Blessed Nazario Del Valle González, also known as Nazario of the Sacred Heart, was a Discalced Carmelite priest who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He is venerated as a blessed in the Catholic Church.
Nazario Del Valle González was born on 28 July 1901 in Castilfalé, León, Spain. From a young age, he displayed a strong inclination towards the religious life and joined the Discalced Carmelites. After completing his studies and formation, he was ordained a priest.
As a Carmelite, Father Nazario embraced a life of prayer, contemplation, and self-sacrifice. He devoted himself to imitating the example of the saints and seeking a deeper union with God through adherence to the Carmelite charism. Known for his humility, simplicity, and dedication to his vocation, Father Nazario became a spiritual guide and mentor for many.
However, during the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, which lasted from 1936 to 1939, priests and religious individuals became targets of persecution by the anti-Catholic factions. Sadly, Father Nazario fell victim to this religious persecution on 31 July 1936. He was martyred in Los Cobertizos, Toledo, Spain, sacrificing his life out of fidelity to his faith.

Later, on 28 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI formally beatified him, affirming his exemplary life of holiness and his martyrdom.
